Sven Ortel

Represented by Mark D. Sendroff

Sven is a video & projection designer who worked as part of Mesmer between 2001 and 2009, joining when we were resident at the National Theatre in London. He is now based in New York City, where he continues work as a projection designer for the stage. He trained as a film lighting engineer in Germany and as a video and lighting designer in London.

While part of Mesmer, his work included the designs for numerous shows, including our first two collaborations with Complicite – Measure for Measure at the National Theatre and the award-winning A Disappearing Number. He was instrumental in developing many of the early systems we used, including the 270 degree projection systems for The Coast of Utopia and The Woman in White.

Examples of his recent work can be found on his website –
