• RSC, Stratford Upon Avon, 2016

The story of Cymbeline is convoluted and not often staged. With Melly Still directing we used projection on a number of levels both practically to translate latin, as part of the storytelling, to enhance the symbolism and setup locations, and decoratively to help reveal the mood of the tale during key moments.

To tell the backstory during the prologue, filming was required to illustrate a childhood reminiscence and to reflect earlier meetings between characters.

The projection design had to be flexible to suit both the RSC stage and the Barbican so a close collaboration between Anna Fleischle’s set design and the the projection was crucial.

The production was also broadcast to cinema as part of the RSC screenings.
