Deborah Warner’s acclaimed interpretation of the classic, opening at the Barbican Theatre, starred Simon Russel Beale and had a video design by Dick Straker of Mesmer.

As the play moves into war, and the Tom Pye’s marble set is slowly removed, the space opens out into a dark void. Building for the second half of the play, we designed abstract projected backdrops which reflected the tense, atmospheric soundtrack. A mix of digital and analog noise and TV static was used to create the projections, which covered the entire back wall of the theatre.
